A surprise proposal at 290 Wine Castle
Krystal thought that she and her boyfriend were just meeting up with some friends at a winery. But little did she know, a day full of surprises awaited her…
Weeks prior, Krystal’s brother had contacted me to photograph the proposal. He had been working with Krystal’s boyfriend, Jaime, to help plan the perfect proposal without her being suspicious (So smart! And such an amazing brother to help plan this moment for his sister!). We worked out the details together and then anxiously waited for the day to come.
On the big day, Krystal and Jaime arrived at the 290 Wine Castle - a cute, medieval-inspired winery overlooking the hill country in Johnson City, Texas. They met up with her brother, Kristian, and went inside to wait for their friends. Jaime excused himself for a “restroom break”, while Kristian distracted his sister inside the winery. He then snuck outside where the proposal would take place (where I was eagerly waiting, camera in hand!).
Moments later, Kristian blindfolded his sister and led her outside for a surprise. When the blindfold came off, she was shocked to see her boyfriend standing underneath a beautiful gazebo overlooking the hill country, with huge Marry Me letters and rose petals galore. Jaime handed Krystal a beautiful bouquet, spoke some words from the heart, and then got down on one knee to pop the question, as live music serenaded the couple. After an enthusiastic YES (and some gorgeous new bling!), Krystal turned around to see another surprise - her family and friends waiting behind me, ready to celebrate!
After lots of hugs, tears, and celebrating, we did a mini engagement session to commemorate the day. Following some photos around the property, Jaime had one more surprise up his sleeve - a cheesecake! This was extra special, as the couple had shared a slice on their very first date together. It was so beautiful to see this moment come full circle with this thoughtful detail. We ended their session as they shared a slice of cheesecake together, and then went off to celebrate with their family and friends.
Congratulations, Krystal and Jaime! It was such a joy to be a part of the surprise. It’s so evident how much your family and friends love you, and how much thought and detail was put into planning this day from all involved. Enjoy this special time, and happy wedding planning!
